Obama Bitch Slapped By IOC

Despite four years, millions of dollars in planning and a last-ditch pitch from President Obama, the City of Chicago was eliminated in the first round of voting, before any host city was selected.
Maybe our hapless president would be better served focusing resources on helping the uneducated and impoverished areas and making the streets safer so incidents like the beating death of Derrion Albert on Chicago's South Side.
The reality is schoolchildren in Chicago, their hometown, continue to be killed and wounded going to and from school while they campaigned for the Olympic games that these children will not view.

I was so pleased the the IOC was not swayed by this costly ploy for his public relations image while he ignores the plight of the millions struggling day to day to make ends meet.
His attempts to push socialized, rationed and government controlled medical reform down the American Peoples throats has bruised his ego. Internationally while some praise his condecending attitude towards, well basically everyone has earned him little respect as a world leader of the most powerful nation.
So he attempted to apply his "charm" on the International Olympic Committee and again fell flat on his face.
Bravo IOC!!!

Although I did want Chicago to get it, simply because it would have given all those kids in the south side something to look forward to even though the odds of them getting a ticket to the games would be infinitesimal unless they were a competitor, I do think it was about time South American hosted the Olympics. And I do think the right wing media that will do anything to sink Obama due to his liberal policies and the color of his skin (I was appalled to hear the N word used to describe him by people who I thought were decent), helped derail the chances of Chicago by playing up urban violence that happens not only in every major American city, but in Rio De Jamerio too. You could not turn on Fox News this week without thinking that Chicago is the most violent place on earth.

Economically, Chicago (and those poor kids you speak of) would have benefited from the investments in urban infrastructure the Olympics would have brought. And, if John McCain were elected you betcha (as Bush would have said) the media would have been all over the place boosting the chances of the United States. A black President who hails from Chicago himself? Don't hold your breath.

Im neither Republican nor Democrat and I feel neither party offered us much in the way of leadership. As far as the infrastructure and those kids benefitting from the boost, you are talking about short term building spurts...which in Chicago would all be bid out to political allies and increase in the food industry and hotel services and a short burst in some sale while they occur and then it all goes away leaving everyone high and dry again. The expense for maintianing the upgraded or newly built facilities than being taken on my the already overburdened citizens.
I agree a McCain presidency would have been a disaster. I just fear the Obama presidency is turn into a different type of disaster because he is a political tool and an elitist.
He is a liberal socialist whether it makes any sense or not. I tend to agree with what P.J. O'Rourke says,
1. "Every government is a parliament of whores. The trouble is, in a democracy, the whores are us".
2. " The Democrats are the party that says government will make you smarter, taller, richer, and remove the crabgrass on your lawn. The Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work and then they get elected and prove it.
So either choice was a foul one. Thi one just has a different foul smell.

I AM a Republican AND a Conservative, and I've spent my entire adult life listening to people like Eddi accuse me and others who share my beliefs, of being racist because we care more about individual freedom then socialist government. I am really really sick of that by now.

In my opinion, accusations of race, are used as a way to divert attention away from the very real and dangerous policies of this incredibly corrupt and incompetent administration.

Do I hope that Obama fails, you bet I do, and when he goes down in flames, I pray that nationalizing our banks, our automotive industry and our health care system go down with him.

Harsh words. I however do not wish Obama to fail, unless you mean to fail to socialize our medical care and individual policies.
I would hope that he would bring our country to peace and greater prosperity. I would wish he would be the greatest president of the new century.
I was no fan of McCain and Palin and truth be told they would have been a running political joke in the oval office.
It does seem I touched on some sensitive nerves. I will debate this point little further, but I will say conservative republicans are little better. Pushing these "pro family" issues while running off to screw with a South American hottie, or playing footsie in airport restrooms.
Stupidity is not based upon any ideology or race. Stupid is as stupid does.

I don't believe you can separate a politician from his agenda. Obama stands for and supports things like nationalizing health care. To defeat them, Obama MUST fail.

Also, you noted the failings of a couple of conservative politicians, and that's fine. You should remember though that the failings of an individual do NOT reflect on either their ideas or beliefs. After all, Bill Clinton gave us NAFTA and the first major reduction in welfare ever, even as he was donating some semen all over a blue dress.
